Governor Samboja empowers women in line with SDG 5
H.E. Governor Granton Samboja has held a meeting with groups in Mwaranginyi, Mbololo Ward where he has issued cheques worth Ksh 2 million for economic empowerment of women,youth and persons with disability groups. Governor Samboja stated that this gender sensitive approach sets to align with the global United Nations UN backed Sustainable Development Goal SDG 5 which calls for mitigating gender inequalities. “Women are more burdened with taking care and investing more in their households. This fund further targets to build resilience stand to help small holder businesses led by women and youth to withstand shocks of the disruptive effects of COVID-19,” Governor Samboja advised. He added that the absence of gender gaps enable economic empowerment to drive sustainable and thriving economies.
